Divorce Support

Supporting families through separation with clarity, compassion and considered guidance.

Divorce can be one of the most destabilising transitions a family experiences. Emotions run high, communication can fracture, and children often carry uncertainty they don’t yet have words for – whether they’re 5 or 15.

With over a decade of experience working with parents and families through periods of significant transition, my work offers calm, structured, family-centred expertise for families navigating separation and divorce – guiding adults to move through change thoughtfully, protect their relationships, and make decisions grounded in connection rather than conflict.

Support for Parents Navigating Divorce

Divorce doesn’t have to define your family.

I work one-to-one with parents at all stages of separation, whether you’re preparing for difficult conversations, navigating the legal process or finding your footing in life post-divorce. This period can feel overwhelming and intense, especially when tension is high and the stakes feel deeply personal.

For children of all ages, separation can be a highly volatile time. Confusion, fear and grief often surface through behaviour – sudden outbursts, withdrawal, acting out or power struggles that feel out of proportion and impossible to manage. When this is combined with parental guilt, exhaustion and uncertainty, it can leave families stuck in cycles of conflict that erode connection and trust.

My role is to help you stay anchored in what matters most – your children’s wellbeing, your values as a parent and your ability to communicate with intention, clarity and care, even when things feel tense or uncertain.

I support you in understanding what sits underneath your child’s behaviour and guide you to respond in ways that maintain safety, boundaries and connection, without shutting down what is often a natural grieving process.

Through practical guidance and greater steadiness during a time of major change, I help you to navigate separation with calm and confidence, ground yourself and your family, regain clear perspective, and teach you how to respond rather than react. Together, we focus on reducing unnecessary conflict, strengthening connection with your children and creating a sense of safety and consistency for your family as it adjusts to a new dynamic.

Our work together will help you move through separation with strength and intention – making thoughtful, focused decisions, maintaining your integrity as a parent and laying foundations for healthier family dynamics going forward.

Through bespoke sessions, I guide parents to:

Navigate difficult conversations with calm and confidence
Reduce conflict and improve communication with a co-parent
Establish consistent routines, boundaries and expectations across households
Make grounded and focused decisions during periods of uncertainty
Learn and understand their children’s emotional needs during this stage
Navigate their children’s often confusing and heightened behaviour
Maintain strong, secure relationships with their children

Sessions are tailored to your family’s unique circumstances and can be accessed as short-term support or ongoing guidance.

Because separation is a chapter – not the story of your family.

“Working with Amiee through my separation has been invaluable. Not only as a sounding board but in terms of concrete and targeted advice and action plans. I have found her coaching crazy simple to apply and the results were immediate.

In all honesty I have found myself slightly embarrassed that I couldn’t get there alone, but I couldn’t. I will most definitely go back as and when I need expert advice. They say that parenting doesn’t come with a manual. That doesn’t mean I can’t go and find one! Amiee is my manual.”

Support for Family Law Professionals

Facilitating considered decision-making and
child-focused outcomes alongside the legal process.

Parents navigating separation and divorce are often required to make complex, high-stakes decisions at a time of significant emotional strain. Heightened conflict, miscommunication and reactivity can quickly undermine even the most carefully structured legal processes, particularly in cases involving children and young adults.

My services provide relational support for parents during separation and divorce, complementing the legal process rather than complicating it. The aim is to guide parents in remaining measured, reflective and family-centred, enabling more effective engagement with legal advice and more constructive participation throughout the process.

Rather than addressing legal or clinical concerns, my work focuses on the underlying dynamics that often sit beneath prolonged conflict or stalled decision-making, helping to reduce unnecessary escalation and protect the integrity of the legal process.

This support is particularly valuable during periods where the emotional demands of separation can make it harder to:

Absorb and act on legal advice
Communicate constructively with a former partner
Remain focused on children’s needs rather than ongoing conflict
Stay consistently engaged throughout proceedings

By offering parents a contained, professional space to process interpersonal challenges, discussions, negotiations and agreements are more likely to be approached with greater composure and perspective.

How this service benefits legal teams

Working with a dedicated relational parenting specialist can:

Reduce escalation and conflict, particularly where reactive responses are driving communication breakdowns

Improve client regulation and responsiveness, enabling clearer instruction and more effective engagement

Support child-focused outcomes, reinforcing best-practice principles without crossing legal or clinical boundaries

Protect professional boundaries, ensuring legal teams are not drawn into personal matters or non-legal dynamics

Complement mediation and therapeutic services, without duplicating roles or creating confusion around scope

A considered approach to holistic client care

For family law departments committed to child-focused practice and high-quality client care, this service provides an additional layer of stability and expertise – helping parents navigate separation more constructively while allowing legal professionals to focus on delivering legal outcomes. The result is a more grounded client, stronger engagement throughout proceedings, and a legal process that progresses more smoothly and constructively.

I welcome enquiries from family law departments interested in integrating family-focused relational support into their wider client care framework. I’m also available to consult with legal teams on specific cases where relational dynamics may be impacting progress.

“Divorce is never nice. My greatest concern was to try and navigate it in the way that would most benefit my children. This was not easy at a time when I couldn’t see the wood for the trees myself. Amiee helped me steer a course in a way that I believe made a genuine impact on the outcome of the divorce, both the short term trauma response and the long term impact on our relationships.”

About Amiee

Amiee Carlton is a behavioural expert and relational parenting coach well known for her ability to restructure family dynamics and significantly improve connection, communication and relationships during periods of high conflict. Amiee works with parents and families navigating periods of significant change, offering a calm, structured and connection-centred approach during separation and divorce. With over a decade of experience across parenting, communication and family dynamics, her work supports adults in remaining reflective, grounded and focused on children’s needs during complex transitions, no matter their age.

Drawing on her background in human behaviour and psychology-informed practice, underpinned by professional certification as a CPMC Conscious Parenting Coach, NLP Master Practitioner (ABNLP) and Standard Coaching Practitioner (Nina Madden School of Life Changes), Amiee brings a clear understanding of how pressure, miscommunication and unresolved interpersonal patterns influence decision-making during periods of change and disrupt otherwise healthy emotional dynamics.

Her work is further informed by her studies in trauma and shame through the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioural Medicine, alongside qualification in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and IEMT, enabling her to support stress regulation and reduce anxiety during high-pressure transitions. Her approach is practical and contained, encouraging measured thinking, steadier communication and more constructive engagement as families adjust to new structures.

Alongside her work with parents, Amiee has extensive experience in corporate and educational settings, giving her a strong appreciation of professional boundaries, high-pressure environments and the importance of clear scope and role definition. This enables her to work effectively alongside legal professionals, complementing the legal process with clarity, discretion and a consistent focus on children’s wellbeing.
